According to the Toledo Blade, “MOST Americans know little or nothing about a substance called bisphenol-A, which is why federal health officials and the chemical industry owe the public a definitive and unbiased explanation.” The Blade reports that questions have been raised that a private consulting company employed to help assess the toxicity of BPA may have too close of ties to the chemical industry. BPA is reportedly found in the plastic liners of food and beverage containers and some scientists have linked the chemical to everything from obesity to reproductive dysfunctions to cancer.
