According to PLoS Biology, a peer-reviewed open-access journal published by the Public Library of Science, although researchers say endocrine-disputing chemicals, such as bisphenol A (BPA), which is the alleged building block of polycarbonate plastics including baby bottles, can permanently harm developing organisms and possibly promote obesity, the chemical industry “doesn’t want you to believe them.” One researcher of bisphenol A asserts, “The moment we published something on bisphenol A, the chemical industry went out and hired a number of corporate laboratories to replicate our research. What was stunning about what they did … was they hired people who had no idea how to do the work.”
