Health Campaigners Argue Politicians Should Remove Chemicals Such as BPA from the Environment

According to the April 2008 issue of the “Nutrition Action Health Letter,” health campaigners are urging politicians to act on the “growing body of scientific evidence that links exposure to certain chemicals to spiraling rates of breast cancer.” Women who are exposed to synthetic hormones in the womb, such as bisphenol A (BPA), which is found in plastic food containers, may be at an increased risk to develop breast cancer. Scientists and health campaigners allegedly argue that as these chemicals are found in such a wide range of products, it is impossible for women to avoid exposure to them, and thus regulators should remove these chemicals from the environment.
