Does Plastic Trash End Up on our Plates?

“CBC News” reports the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a mass of trash twice the size of the continental United States that drifts off the Pacific coast, is full of 100 tons of discarded plastic. Plastic reportedly does not biodegrade, but rather photodegrades, which means it breaks into pieces. These plastic pieces reportedly soak up toxins and are absorbed by sea life, and as the food chain “does its thing,” this same plastic is reportedly ending up on our plates.
