“L.A. Times” Reports Surge in Demand for Glass Baby Bottles

According to the “Los Angeles Times,” as the synthetic chemical bisphenol A (BPA), which is found in clear polycarbonate plastics including baby bottles, water bottles and the lining of food cans, is being reviewed by the National Toxicology Program and other government agencies for its potential harmfulness to human health, many options are emerging as safe alternatives to the plastic packaging material. According to the Glass Packaging Institute, there has recently been a surge in demand for glass baby bottles. To avoid exposure to BPA, the article recommends eating fewer canned foods and using glass, porcelain or stainless steel containers when possible. The article recommends that consumers do not use polycarbonate plastic baby bottles.
