Government Committee Reviews Safety of Plastic Chemicals BPA and Phthalates

The “Associated Press” reports the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee will take a closer look at chemicals used in baby bottles, toys, and other household items amid concern they can cause developmental problems in children. The plastics chemicals bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalates have been used for over 50 years, but recent analysis by government scientists has reportedly raised new concern about their effects on infants.
