Dr. Servan-Schreiber Says We Can Prevent Cancer by Eating Certain Foods and Avoiding Plastics

Green Bay WBAY-TV reports David Servan-Schreiber, M.D., Ph.D., the author of Anticancer: A New Way of Life, says we can do more to prevent cancer and more to control it once we have it. According to Servan-Schreiber, when our lifestyle (85 percent contribution), or our genetic makeup (15 percent) either support cancer growth or interfere with our natural defenses, cancer develops unchecked. Many foods, such as garlic, onions, and leeks, have been shown to repress cancerous cell growth by more than 80 percent. A surprising product that may cause cancer is a plastic container, which may leach the chemical bisphenol A (BPA) when heated in doses high enough to cancel out the benefits of chemotherapy in mice.
