Activist Group Wants Bottled Water Banned on Capitol Hill

According to “Arlington Sun Gazette” op-ed contributor Natalie Roy, executive director of the Clean Water Network, believes the Arlington County Board’s decision to stop purchasing bottled water for civic functions should be replicated by the U.S. Congress on Capitol Hill. According to Roy, “Not only do bottled-water companies not have to meet the same tough water quality standards as municipal suppliers, but their product comes in plastic bottles that have to be transported long distances, leaving a huge carbon footprint.”
