The “Milwaukee Journal Sentinel” reports the Food and Drug Administration said last week that it is reviewing new studies on bisphenol A (BPA) and expects to rule by November 30th on whether the chemical is safe for use in food and beverage containers. Some environmental activists have reportedly criticized the timeline, saying the government has had more than enough time to consider the chemical’s effects. New studies, including data from humans, have linked the chemical to heart disease and diabetes, and in one of the more concerning studies, BPA was found to interfere in the effectiveness of chemotherapy for breast cancer patients.
